Frederick Daniel Hardy Collection

Frederick Daniel Hardy (1827-1911) was an English painter and etcher. He was born in London, England and trained at the Royal Academy Schools. He is best known for his genre paintings of rural life, often featuring children or young women in rural settings. His works were popular with the Victorians and he exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy from 1851 to 1885. He also produced a number of etchings which were published by the Fine Art Society in London. Hardy's work is held in many public collections including Tate Britain, The Victoria & Albert Museum and The British Museum. His work has been described as "poetic" with a "delicate touch".
