Quentin Massys Collection

Quentin Massys (c. 1466-1530) was a Flemish painter and engraver of the Northern Renaissance. He is best known for his religious works, which often featured satirical elements, as well as his portraits of wealthy patrons. His work was influenced by the Italian Renaissance, but he also incorporated elements from German and Netherlandish art into his paintings. Massys' most famous painting is The Moneylender and His Wife (1514), which features a moralizing theme about greed and avarice. He also produced several prints depicting biblical scenes, such as The Temptation of St Anthony (1520). Massys' influence on later generations of artists was significant; he served as an inspiration to Pieter Bruegel the Elder in particular.
