Melton Prior Collection

Melton Prior was a British illustrator and war correspondent who worked for the Illustrated London News. He was born in London in 1856 and began his career as an apprentice to a wood engraver. He later became a staff artist at the Illustrated London News, where he covered wars, royal events, and other newsworthy topics. His work was known for its accuracy and attention to detail, which made it popular with readers of the newspaper. In addition to his work as an illustrator, Prior also wrote several books about his experiences during wartime. He died in 1943 after a long career that spanned more than 60 years. His legacy continues today through his artwork which can be seen in museums around the world.
