Eternity Plaque in Memory of Arthur Stace
Eternity plaque in memory of Arthur Stace, mysterious graffitist of Sydney for 30 years from 1930. Sydney Town Hall, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Eternity was written in beautiful copperplate script with yellow chalk on the pavements of Sydney, country New South Wales, Newcastle and Melbourne. It took just one man, Arthur Stace, (Mr Eternity), an underclass battler, former drunk and criminal to inspire an entire city. As he walked every so often he would stop, pull out a crayon, bend down and write on the pavement in large, elegant copperplate - Eternity. He would move on a hundred yards then write it again, nothing more, just one simple word. For thirty-seven years he chalked this one-word sermon and he wrote more than half a million times
