EDITORS COMMENTS
This print takes us back to a historic moment in football history - the Bradford City team that triumphed as the 1911 FA Cup winners. The image showcases the victorious squad, proudly posing together after their remarkable achievement. The road to victory was not an easy one for Bradford City. After a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Newcastle Utd at Crystal Palace, they emerged triumphant with a 1-0 win in the replay held at Old Trafford. The hero of the day was none other than James "Jimmy". Speirs, who scored the winning goal that secured their place in football folklore. Speirs' contribution to both club and country cannot be understated. Not only did he receive recognition for his bravery during World War I by being awarded the Military Medal, but he also gained one cap representing Scotland before tragically losing his life in battle during the Battle of Paschendale in August 1917. The team's camaraderie is evident as they stand united on this memorable occasion. From left to right, we see Peter O'Rourke leading them as manager alongside players such as Robert "Bob". Torrance, Frank O'Rourke (who earned one Scotland cap), Mark Mellors, James McDonald, Archie Devine (also earning one Scotland cap), and C. Harper serving as trainer. Sitting confidently are Wiliam "Willie". Gildea, Robert "Bob". Campbell, George Robinson, David Taylor, Francis "Frank"
