Mortimer is a small village located in Hampshire, England and is situated on the River Loddon and has a population of around 2,500 people. The village dates back to at least the 11th century and was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Mortemer. It was once an important market centre for local farmers and merchants, but today it is mainly a residential area with some small businesses. There are several historic buildings in the village including St Mary's Church which dates back to the 13th century and Mortimer House which was built in 1620. The surrounding countryside provides plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities such as walking, cycling and horse riding. Mortimer offers visitors a peaceful rural retreat away from busy city life while still being close enough to London for day trips or longer stays.
