Albert Memorial, Kensington Gardens, London

The Albert Memorial in Kensington Gardens, London, which was erected by Queen Victoria in memory of her much-mourned husband and Prince Consort, Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, who died of typhoid in 1861. Prince Albert Memorial

Officially titled the Prince Consort National Memorial, it celebrates Victorian achievement and Prince Albert's passions and interests. It's located in Kensington Gardens and is one of London's most ornate monuments, designed by George Gilbert Scott. Unveiled in 1872, the Memorial commemorates the death of Prince Albert, Queen Victoria's husband, who died of typhoid fever at the age of 42

Air Raid Precautions (A.R.P.) volunteers digging trenches and shelters in Kensington Gardens, London, on 26th September 1938, watched by an interested crowd. A.R.P. volunteers were mobilised at this time, and cellars and basements were requisitioned for air raid shelters; trenches were dug in the parks of large towns. Date: 1938
