This coloured lithograph showcases the magnificent "View of the Square and the Grand Theatre, St Petersburg" in all its glory. Created by an anonymous French School artist during the 19th century, this print offers a glimpse into the architectural splendor of Russia's past. The image transports us to a winter wonderland, with snow-covered streets and a troika gliding through the square. The grandeur of St Petersburg is evident in every detail, from the majestic portico adorning the theatre entrance to the elegant carriages waiting outside. It is fascinating to note that this theatre was eventually replaced by what is now known as Mariinsky (Kirov) Theatre in 1860.
