EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases an exquisite piece of jewelry known as the "An Antique Emerald, Diamond and Pearl Sarpech". Created in the late 19th century by Indian School artisans, this turban ornament is a true testament to their craftsmanship. The sarpech features a stunning cushion mixed-cut emerald at its center, surrounded by oval-shaped old-cut diamonds, rose and old-cut diamonds, and a delicate pearl drop. Made from silver-topped gold and adorned with feathers, this sarpech is not only visually striking but also versatile. Its top element can be detached while the lower section can be worn as an arm band or bazuband. In 2012, renowned jeweler Cartier adapted this masterpiece further by adding a brooch fitting. The beauty of this antique sarpech lies not only in its design but also in its history. Housed in a red Cartier case for safekeeping, it has been meticulously examined and certified by AGL (American Gemological Laboratories). Their report confirms that the emerald hails from Colombia with insignificant clarity enhancement of traditional type. Captured expertly through photography by Bridgeman Images on behalf of Fine Art Finder, this image allows us to appreciate every intricate detail of this magnificent piece. It serves as a reminder of the rich cultural heritage behind such extraordinary works of artistry and elegance.
