New Police Recruit Aiming Her Weapon

(Original Caption) Chicago: Aiming Higher. Chicago Police Department female recruit Chris Kolman uses the standard barricade position to fire a police revolver during firearms training May 10. Since February, women recruits now get 22 weeks of training instead of the 15 weeks earlier classes received. Before, the academy offered a curriculum of criminal law, self defense, use of firearms and social subjects. Now, the women recruits learn rules of evidence, bomb and arson procedures, crowd control and riot formation, as well as how to handle burglary, vice, robbery and homicide investigations. Unleash your creativity and transform your space into a visual masterpiece.

Empowering Women in Law Enforcement: A New Era of Training for Chicago's Female Recruits" This photo showcases Chris Kolman, a female recruit with the Chicago Police Department, demonstrating her skills during firearms training. The image highlights the department's commitment to providing women recruits with comprehensive 22-week training programs, which now include advanced courses on bomb and arson procedures, crowd control, and investigative techniques. The caption emphasizes the significance of this change in training for women recruits, who previously received only 15 weeks of instruction. By expanding their curriculum to include a broader range of subjects, the Chicago Police Department is equipping its female officers with the skills necessary to excel in their roles and serve their communities effectively. As we celebrate progress towards greater diversity and inclusion within law enforcement agencies nationwide, this photo serves as a powerful reminder that women are an integral part of maintaining public safety.
