Coat of arms 17th century Wall and Thomas
This image is from a copperplate engraving, and shows part of a roll of arms from Richard Blomes Britannia, an atlas published in 1673. It features the coats of arms of people who contributed towards the completion of the work a starting with King Charles II. Each page includes 35 coats of arms, presented here in pairs. These two coats of arms are from folio (page) 9 of the work. In old English, ans appeared as a longs (which looks like an f ), while ss appeared as fs. Com was an abbreviation for County. A number is assigned to each benefactor. Here are the accompanying texts (followed by modernised English where appropriate): 273. Mr. Thomas WALL of ye Citty of Briftoll Bookfeller (Bristol, bookseller). 274. Ieffrey THOMAS of ye Citty of London of Highgate in Midds & of [blank] in Kent Efq (Jeffrey Thomas; Middlesex)

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a remarkable piece of history, an engraved image from the 17th century depicting a coat of arms. The print is derived from Richard Blomes Britannia, an esteemed atlas published in 1673. It features a roll of arms representing individuals who contributed to the completion of this monumental work, commencing with King Charles II. The image reveals two coats of arms presented side by side on page nine of the atlas. In this period, old English script utilized longs (resembling f) for ans and fs instead of ss. Additionally, com was used as an abbreviation for County. The first coat of arms belongs to Mr. Thomas Wall, a bookseller hailing from Bristol. Meanwhile, the second coat represents Jeffrey Thomas from London's Highgate area in Middlesex and [blank] in Kent. This antique engraving offers insight into British culture and traditional practices during that era. Its ornate design serves as both decoration and symbolizes acknowledgement through armorial representation. Printed on high-quality paper using copperplate techniques, this historical illustration evokes feelings of nostalgia and admiration for our ancestral roots. It stands as a testament to friendship forged through shared passions such as publication and family lineage. Whiteway's meticulous reproduction allows us to appreciate the intricate details preserved within this artwork while immersing ourselves in England's rich heritage.
