Two women in the town of Hamelin in Lower Saxony, Germany, being scared by one of the rats which were plaguing the townsfolk in 1284. The event inspired the legend of the Pied Piper who removed the rats by playing his musical instrument but when the townsfolk refused to pay him, he lured away most of their children. According to folklore, when faced with an infestation beyond control, the townsfolk sought help from a mysterious musician known as the Pied Piper. With his enchanting melodies resonating through his musical instrument, he miraculously led all the rats away from Hamelin. However, greed and ingratitude prevailed among those who had been saved. The townspeople refused to pay their savior for his services rendered. In retaliation and driven by vengeance, he lured away most of their children forever.
