Vanity Fair (1868 to 1914) was founded in 1868 by Thomas Gibson Bowles, the magazine's long-term editor and owner. It was a popular magazine for those "in the know." written by and for the Victorian and Edwardian establishment, inviting its readers to recognize the vanities of human existence, the publication, through its original format, prose and coloured caricatures of which there were over 2,300.
