Stripes at Tent Rock National Monument

Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument is manged by the BLM with the Pueblo de Cochiti and is located 35 miles south of Santa Fe, New Mexico. The cone-shaped tent rock formations are the results of volcanic eruptions that happened 6 to 7 million years ago. The bands of layering volcanic material show grey, beige and pink-colored rock. The trail from the parking lot accesses two trails, and these photos were taken from the Canyon Trail, a 1.5 mile hike up a narrow, steep canyon. This canyon was formed by wind and water erosion
