Complete view of Isa Khan Niyazis Garden Tomb
Constructed in 1547 CE, it is the tomb complex of Isa Khan Niyazi, an Afghan noble in Sher Shah Suris court of the Suri dynasty, who fought against the Mughals. The octagonal tomb is positioned within an octagonal garden, which was built during his own lifetime and the reign of Islam Shah Suri, son of Sher Shah. It later served as a burial place for the entire family of Isa Khan.
The octagonal tomb bears a striking resemblance to other tombs of the Sur dynasty monuments in the Lodhi Gardens, in Delhi and demonstrates a marked progression in the development of the exquisite architectural style of the main tomb. Some of the architectural details present here were seen later in the main Humayuns tomb, though on a much grander scale, such as the tomb being placed in a walled garden enclosure.
Humayuns tomb is the tomb of the Mughal Emperor Humayun in Delhi, India. The tomb was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This stunning print captures the complete view of Isa Khan Niyazi's Garden Tomb, a magnificent testament to the architectural prowess of the Suri dynasty. Constructed in 1547 CE, this octagonal tomb stands proudly within an equally enchanting octagonal garden, both built during Isa Khan Niyazi's lifetime and the reign of Islam Shah Suri. The intricate design and attention to detail showcased in this tomb are reminiscent of other Sur dynasty monuments found in Delhi's Lodhi Gardens. It is fascinating to witness how this structure represents a significant progression in architectural style when compared to its predecessors. Notably, some architectural elements seen here foreshadow those later incorporated into Humayun's grandiose tomb. Speaking of which, Humayun's tomb is one of India's most iconic landmarks and serves as the final resting place for Mughal Emperor Humayun. The inclusion of Isa Khan Niyazi's tomb within Humayun's complex adds another layer of historical significance to this already remarkable site. Ankur Dauneria has masterfully captured the beauty and grandeur that emanates from these ancient structures through his lens. This print not only showcases their exquisite architecture but also invites viewers on a journey through time, allowing them to appreciate the rich history embedded within these hallowed grounds.
