EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the magnificent Mirza Isa Khan Tomb, located in the historic Makli Hill necropolis. With a vast diameter of approximately 8 km, this sprawling burial ground is considered one of the largest in the world. Nestled about 98 km east of Karachi, Pakistan, it serves as the final resting place for an astounding number of individuals - around 125,000 local rulers, Sufi saints, and other revered figures. Makli Hill holds immense cultural significance as it was once part of Thatta, lower Sindh's capital until the 17th century. Today, this southeastern province gem stands proudly on the outskirts of Thatta and has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage site since 1981 under its official name "Historical Monuments of Thatta". The photo itself captures not only the grandeur but also reveals intricate details that make this tomb truly remarkable. The stone wall adorned with exquisite carvings and a majestic dome create an awe-inspiring sight against a backdrop steeped in social history. Photographed in 2015 by commoner28th and made available through Fine Art Storehouse without any commercial use intentions mentioned or associated with any company; this image beautifully encapsulates artistry and heritage within its frame. It serves as both a testament to human craftsmanship throughout history and an invitation to explore Pakistan's rich cultural tapestry firsthand at this extraordinary UNESCO World Heritage site.
