Acanthuridae, also known as surgeonfish or tangs, are a diverse family of tropical reef fish that captivate with their vibrant colors and unique features. One such member is the Pletail unicornfish (Naso brevirostris) juvenile, whose horn will continue to grow as it matures. Another striking species is the Naso lituratus, commonly called orangespine unicornfish, which adds a splash of orange to the underwater world. In a mesmerizing composite image set against a black background, we find an assortment of blue tropical reef fish. The Blue triggerfish (Pseudobalistes fuscus), Bicolour angelfish (Centropyge bicolor), Elongate surgeonfish (Acanthurus mata), and Yellowtail tang/surgeonfish (Zebrasoma xanthurum) create an enchanting scene beneath the waves. Moving on to another captivating composite image featuring yellow tropical reef fish, we encounter the Falcula butterflyfish (Chaetodon falcula), Yellow boxfish (Ostracion cubicus), Golden butterflyfish (Chaetodon semilarvatus), and Red Sea clownfish (Amphiprion bicinctus). Their vibrant hues bring life to any coral reef they inhabit. Venturing deeper into Shark Reef in Jolande within Ras Mohammed National Park lies the majestic Bluespine unicornfish (Naso unicornis). This species gathers during summer breeding season alongside other members of its kind for a truly awe-inspiring sight. Schools of powderblue surgeonfish (Acanthurus leucosternon) gracefully feed in Laamu Atoll's crystal-clear waters in Maldives. Their synchronized movements create an ethereal ballet beneath the surface. During spawning season, male and female Yellowtail tangs (Zebrasoma xanthurum) engage in a fascinating ritual where they turn belly-to-belly. This unique behavior showcases their commitment to reproduction and ensures the survival of their species.
