EDITORS COMMENTS

Alexander Karadordevic, also known as Alexander I of Serbia, was a pivotal figure in Serbian history. Born into the royal family in 1888, he became king at just 16 years old after his father's assassination. Despite his youth, Alexander proved to be a strong and capable leader, guiding Serbia through turbulent times including World War I. During his reign, Alexander worked tirelessly to modernize and unify Serbia, advocating for social reforms and infrastructure improvements. He also played a key role in the creation of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes (later renamed Yugoslavia) in 1918. However, Alexander's rule was not without controversy. His authoritarian tendencies led to tensions with political opponents and ultimately culminated in his assassination in Marseille in 1934. Despite his untimely death, Alexander Karadordevic left behind a lasting legacy as a visionary leader who fought for the interests of his people. Today, he is remembered as one of Serbia's most influential monarchs whose impact on the country can still be felt today.
