In the picturesque alpine region of Jura, Switzerland, a female Alpine ibex (Capra ibex) gracefully roams through the September landscape. Nearby, a magnificent goat willow tree (Salix caprea) stands tall, providing shelter and sustenance for these majestic creatures. Moving to Lucerne, Switzerland in August, two male Ibex proudly stand on a hillside, their presence commanding attention. Their powerful stature is reminiscent of the captivating sculptures by Palladio, Andrea di Pietro dalla Gondola. Venturing further south to Sierra Nevada National Park in Andalusia, Spain during October's rutting season reveals an enchanting sight - a pair of Iberian ibex with a dominant male asserting his authority. Meanwhile in June, an adorable Iberian ibex kid curiously peers over rocks as it explores its surroundings. As winter sets in during February, a determined yearling Iberian ibex navigates down snow-covered slopes with unwavering determination. The harsh conditions do not deter these resilient creatures from adapting and thriving. The summer months bring both harmony and conflict among the Iberian ibex population. Two adult males engage in fierce battles for dominance while females endure playful pestering from their young kids begging for milk. At an astonishing altitude of 2900m in July's scorching heatwave, another intrepid two-month-old Iberian ibex kid fearlessly makes its way down treacherous cliffs. This breathtaking display of agility showcases the remarkable adaptability of these mountain-dwelling animals. From Switzerland to Spain and across seasons throughout the year, Capra captivates us with its diverse species' resilience and beauty amidst challenging environments.
