"Chunks: A Journey Through Time and Nature's Wonders" Embark on a captivating journey through time, as we explore the significance of "chunks" in various forms across different landscapes. From the historical maps of Europe to the icy shores of Iceland, these they have stories to tell. In 1871, Germany underwent a transformative period with the unification of its states into one nation. Like pieces falling into place on a map, these chunks formed a new chapter in European history. Venturing into the wild, we encounter another kind of chunk - the mighty wolf. With its untamed spirit and fierce presence, this creature reminds us that nature is full of raw power and beauty. Traveling further east to Kawa Ijen in Indonesia, sulfur baskets and smoking sulfur pipes reveal an industrious side to chunks. Amidst volcanic activity, brave workers extract valuable resources from Mother Earth's depths – reminding us that even small fragments can hold great worth. Our expedition takes us next to Diamond Beach near Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon in South Iceland. Here, chunks take on an ethereal quality as ice formations grace the shorelines like glistening jewels. These frozen treasures are testament to nature's ability to sculpt breathtaking wonders over time. As dawn breaks over Diamond Beach during sunrise, a single chunk of ice stands out against the horizon – capturing both our imagination and admiration for nature's artistry at play. Shifting gears from natural wonders to urban landscapes, we find ourselves along Regents Canal captured by Ethel Davies' lens on December 23rd, 2009. Chunks appear once again but this time in man-made form – floating debris or perhaps remnants left behind by passing boats navigating through London's waterways. Lisson Wide becomes our backdrop as we continue exploring Davies' photographs from that winter day; each frame revealing glimpses of everyday life intertwined with unexpected moments where chunks become protagonists within their own narratives.
