Cabral and Coutinho fly from Portugal to Brazil

Gabo Coutinho and Sacadura Cabral - Portuguese aviators who flew from Lisbon, Portugal to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1922 in a Fairey IIIB Float plane- the first time this feat was achieved. A link is made to the Portuguese explorer Pedro Alvares Cabral who discovered Brazil in 1500. Date: 1922

Fairey Campania two-seat seaplane

Fairey Campania two-seat carrier-borne reconnaissance or coastal patroller seaplane, which entered production in early 1917. It was mounted on a wheeled trolley for takeoff from a ship's flight deck. Seen here is the fifth aircraft produced, serial no. N1004, with its wings folded for ease of storage aboard ship. Date: circa 1917-1918
