The prestigious 2017 Pulaski Award takes center stage near a new memorial marker at Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge in Florida, honoring those who protect our forests. Layne Hamilton, manager of Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge warmly welcomes guests to a ceremony held in November celebrating conservation efforts. Representatives from NASA's Kennedy Space Center join forces with dedicated individuals to preserve and safeguard our precious forests for future generations. Jon Wallace from U. S Fish and Wildlife Service Southeast Region pays tribute to firefighters' bravery during a ceremony by positioning ceremonial Pulaski tools at a memorial marker. Firefighters prepare themselves before placing ceremonial Pulaski tools beside a new memorial marker as they honor their fallen comrades' sacrifice for protecting our forests. A solemn presentation of colors opens an emotional ceremony on Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge as we pay homage to those who tirelessly work towards preserving our natural treasures.
