Homeric cosmogony

Homeric cosmogony. Map of the Earth based on the myths and knowledge of the Ancient Greeks at the time of Homer (1st or 2nd millennium BC). The map shows a flat Earth centred on Greece and the Mediterranean Sea, surrounded by a River Ocean'. At night, the Sun passes from west to east behind a range of high mountains in the north ('region of the night'). To the south in North Africa, is the region of the day'. Other mythological references include the Elysian Fields, the island of the Cyclops, and the entrance to hell. Civilisations (historical and mythological) marked here include: Ethiopians, Libyans, Pygmies, Egyptians, Amazons, Phoenicians, Hyperboreans and Cimmerians. HMS Exmouth - Royal Navy predreadnought battleship

HMS Exmouth - a Duncan class predreadnought battleship of the Royal Navy. HMS Exmouth was launched in August 1901 and served as a flagship for various fleets including the Mediterranean Fleet, the Channel Fleet and the Atlantic Fleet from her commissioning in 1903 until the start of the First World War in 1914. Adana, Turkey - The Bridge

Adana, capital of Adana Province in south east Turkey. The ancient Antioch on the Sarus. One of the largest cities in Turkey - the gateway to the Cilician Plain. Some claim the name is derived from the Hittite. Intrinsically linked to the history of Tarsus. Treaty of Ankara signed here in 1921 between France and the Turkish Grand National Assembly, which signified the end of the Cilicia War
