Mynahs, also known as mynas, are a diverse group of birds found primarily in Asia. One common species is the Indian Mynah, often seen perched on branches in its native habitat. Another fascinating variety is the Bank Myna, which can be spotted standing on the ground in Keoladeo Ghana National Park. The Javan Myna is another interesting member of this family and has been observed foraging for parasites on both the back and head of a Wild Boar. This behavior showcases their resourcefulness and adaptability. In Australia, two introduced species have made themselves at home - the Common Mynah and Javan Myna. The former can be seen perched on branches in Cairns, while the latter prefers powerlines with its crown feathers raised. A unique find is the Long-tailed Myna pair perched in a tree on Lelet Plateau in New Ireland's Bismarck Archipelago. Their striking appearance adds to their allure. Asian Pied Mynas are not only skilled flyers but also enjoy drinking from various water sources like those found in Keoladeo Ghana National Park. These birds add charm to Rajasthan's landscape. Interestingly, they have been observed interacting with other animals too. An Indian Rhinoceros was spotted alongside a Jungle Myna while resting peacefully together. Similarly, a Wild Water Buffalo was caught chewing cud with its avian companion by its side. Brahminy Starlings are another captivating species commonly found perching on spiniferous bushes throughout Northern India during January months when they migrate there seeking warmer climates. Lastly, we have the Common Mynah once again making itself comfortable outside of its natural range - this time standing confidently amidst short grasses in Queensland, Australia.
