From the Dolciano to the bassoon, various relatives of the oboe family have contributed to its evolution. In ancient China, instruments like the ti-tzu, so-na, yueh-ch'in, and la-pa were predecessors of today's oboe. These instruments paved the way for the modern oboe we know today.
