ILN cover, Trooping the Colour 1947

Front cover of The Illustrated London News featuring King George VI and Princess Elizabeth (Queen Elizabeth II) on horseback at the Trooping the Colour ceremony on Horse Guards Parade in honour of the King's official birthday on 12th June. It was the first time the Trooping of the Colour had taken place in seven years due to the Second World War. Princess Elizabeth wore a specially designed uniform as Colonel of the Grenadier Guards. Date: 1947
