Italy - Naples - Palace of Donn'Anna
Villa Donn'Anna, Naples - The building is on the site of the so-called "Rocks of the Siren" and was originally called "La Villa Sirena". It changed hands a number of times, finally being inherited in 1630 by the woman whose name it now bears, Anna Stigilano, who then married the Spanish viceroy of Naples. She had the building re-modelled by the architect Cosimo Fanzago in the 1640s and since that time, the building has been called Villa Donn'Anna

Queen Victoria at Edward Cazalets Villa - South of France
Queen Victoria at Edward Cazalet's Villa - South of France in 1885. In 1882, Queen Victoria began her winter affair with the Cote dAzur, she would arrive bearing extensive food and drink supplies, a multitude of staff, Highland soldiers and Abdul Karim, her Indian attendant (highly unpopular with all bar the queen herself). The queen would ride out frequently, either in a carriage or a cart pulled by Jacquot, a donkey she had rescued, half-starved, from a peasant (as lampooned on this card) and which she subsequently took back and forth to England with her. (Jacquot lived out his life at Windsor, after Victorias death.). Date: 1885
