This print showcases the exquisite artistry of Byzantine weaving and embroidery from 1898. The creator remains unknown, but their talent is undeniable. The image presents a collection of various embroidered pieces, each with its own unique charm and historical significance. Figures 1 and 2 highlight two remarkable examples: an embroidered purple robe housed in the cathedral-treasure at Bamberg and figured silk-stuff adorning Henry II's tunic in the National-Museum at Munich. Figures 3,4, and 7 display intricately embroidered borders from the Imperial Alb found in Vienna's Imp. treasury, while figures 5 and 6 exhibit similar borders from the Imperial tunicle. Figure 8 showcases beautifully crafted embroidered borders on the German Emperor's mantle also located in Vienna's Imperial treasury. Figure 9 displays stunning embroidery on another section of this magnificent garment.
