This print captures the dignified face of Federico Capdevila, a prominent figure in Catalonian history. Born in 1844, Capdevila dedicated his life to defending students' rights during a tumultuous period in Spain's past. In November 1871, he fearlessly stood before the council of war, passionately pleading for the acquittal of students while condemning the conduct of volunteers involved. His unwavering commitment to justice made him an influential advocate for those who sought freedom and fairness. Sadly, on August 1st, 1898, Federico Capdevila passed away. Today, his remains rest alongside those brave students he fought tirelessly for at the mausoleum of Colon Cemetery. This final resting place serves as a poignant reminder of his enduring legacy and dedication to his cause. The photo itself is part of a cigar card series titled "History of Cuba" produced by Geografico Universal and distributed by Susini y La Corona Cigar Company.
