Lady in a Garden (Portrait of Grand Duchess Natalia), c1773-c1776. The fifth child of Ludwig IX, Landgrave of Hesse-Darmstadt, and Caroline of Zweibrucken, Natalia Alexeievna of Russia (1755-1776) was the first wife of the future Tsar Paul I of Russia, the eldest son of Catherine the Great.
