Moifaa - The Unbreakable Spirit of a Shipwrecked Champion

EDITORS COMMENTS
. This print captures the remarkable story of Moifaa, a New Zealand-bred racehorse who defied all odds to become a legendary champion. In 1904, Moifaa embarked on a treacherous journey from his homeland to compete in the prestigious Grand National at Aintree Racecourse. However, fate had other plans for this resilient equine athlete. Tragically, the ship carrying Moifaa was wrecked just 50 miles off the coast of Ireland. Miraculously surviving the ordeal, he was discovered stranded on a desolate rocky outcrop. It is believed that Moifaa swam through treacherous waters to reach safety. Rescued and nursed back to health with unwavering dedication, Moifaa made an astonishing comeback. Ridden by jockey Arthur Birch, he triumphantly galloped across the finish line at Aintree Racecourse in 1904, winning the Grand National by an astounding eight lengths. This portrait immortalizes not only Moifaa's physical strength but also his indomitable spirit and sheer determination. It serves as a testament to human compassion and resilience in overcoming adversity. The unknown creator of this photograph has masterfully captured both the elegance and power exuded by this extraordinary horse.
