EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the excitement and energy of a children's race at the 1986 Family Day held at Laing Sports Ground in Elstree, Barnet. The event was a resounding success, with over 2500 people coming together to support The British Heart Foundation and raising an impressive £700 for the charity. The atmosphere on that sunny day was electric as kids eagerly lined up at the starting line, their faces beaming with anticipation. Ready, steady, go! With a burst of youthful enthusiasm, they sprinted forward, their little legs propelling them towards victory. The Family Day had something for everyone. From special appearances by beloved Grange Hill cast members to thrilling blindfold stunt driving demonstrations and golf tournaments – there was no shortage of entertainment. Children bounced joyfully on a bouncy castle while others enjoyed donkey rides or laughed along with Punch and Judy shows. Laughter filled the air as Pierre the Clown entertained young and old alike. But it wasn't just about fun; it was also about fostering community spirit through sportsmanship. Six-a-side football tournaments brought out fierce competition among teams vying for glory. This remarkable photograph is more than just a snapshot frozen in time; it represents unity, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to making a difference in people's lives. It serves as a reminder that even small gestures can have significant impact when we come together for a common cause.
