Aachen Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral Basilica of St. Mary and St. Cecilia, is a remarkable architectural masterpiece located in the western German city of Aachen. One of its most significant treasures is the Palatine Chapel, a Carolingian chapel that serves as the imperial coronation church and the burial place of Charlemagne, the first Holy Roman Emperor.
