Adela Corsanda Maria Villiers, later Lady Ibbetson (? - 1860), is depicted in this beautiful portrait photograph, taken around the year 1860. Adela was the daughter of the 4th Earl of Clare and was known for her striking beauty and intelligence. She married Colonel Charles Philip Ibbetson in 1854, and the couple went on to have six children together. Colonel Ibbetson was a distinguished military officer who served in India and was later appointed Governor of Jamaica. Adela accompanied him on many of his travels, and she became known for her gracious hospitality and her involvement in various charitable causes.
