Discovered in the famous Burgess Shale fossil site in Canada, Anomalocaris is considered one of the most well-known fossils from the Phanerozoic Eon, a time when most modern animal phyla first appeared. Anomalocaris was a large, bright orange invertebrate, measuring up to 70 centimeters in length. Its body shape resembled an inverted T, with a bulbous head and a long, slender tail.
