The Avro Vulcan B1 was a groundbreaking British bomber aircraft, renowned for its distinctive delta wing design and impressive speed. However, this particular aircraft holds a unique place in aviation history as it served as a testbed for the revolutionary Bristol Siddeley Olympus 22R turbojet engine. The Olympus 22R was destined for use in the TSR.2, a twin-engine, variable geometry wing supersonic combat aircraft, which was also under development at the time.
