Blessed Mariana of Jesus, born Ana Maria Navarro Guevara and Romero (1565-1624), is depicted in this beautifully colored engraving by Capuz from the 19th century. Mariana was a Spanish tertiary of the Order of Mercy, a religious order founded in the 15th century to provide ransom for Christians held captive by the Moors in Spain.
