Forage cap, peaked pillbox, warrant officers? or senior non commissioned officers?, West India Regiment, 1895 (c).Blue cloth crown and sides. On centre of crown is a black worsted corded button within the centre of a circlet formed of eight eyelets of flat worsted braid. Edge trimmed with gold coloured twisted round cord. On centre front an embroidered badge of the following design: within a gold wire wreath, half of a laurel and half of a palm, a blue silk Garter edged with gold wire and bearing the gold wire motto. Within the Garter the gold wire entwined letters: W I R, all upon a blue cloth ground. Inner cap band of brown leather bearing the remains of a paper label with the following details: - - - B Ltd N - - - - - J - - TO - SON. Lining of padded scarlet silk. Peak lined with green leather. Date: circa 1895
