1938 Babies Mask Masks Pram Prams Precautions Proof Pushing Raid Ww 2 Ww Ii

EDITORS COMMENTS
Amidst the looming shadows of World War II, a resident of Hextable in Kent, England, took innovative measures to ensure the safety of infants during air raids. In this poignant photograph, a woman is seen pushing a groundbreaking invention, a gas proof pram from 1938. The pram, designed to shield babies from the harmful effects of gas attacks, features an airtight lid equipped with a window and a gas mask filter. A rubber bulb at the rear of the pram is squeezed at regular intervals, forcing stale air out and drawing in fresh air through the filter. This simple yet effective design provided a sense of security and peace of mind for mothers during those uncertain times. The historical image captures the essence of resilience and resourcefulness in the face of adversity, as children continued to be cherished and protected despite the turmoil of war. This poignant snapshot from history serves as a reminder of the lengths people went to ensure the safety and wellbeing of their little ones during the darkest days of the 20th century.
