1714 Aquamarine Coronation Fleur Fleur De Lis Jewels Monarch Monarchs Monarchy Ruby Sovereign Sovereignty

EDITORS COMMENTS
This striking photograph showcases the Imperial State Crown of King George I, which was used during his coronation on October 20, 1714. The Imperial State Crown is a significant symbol of the monarchy and sovereignty in England and Britain, and has been used in the coronation ceremonies of all monarchs since George II in 1727, until Queen Victoria's reign in 1838. At the center of the crown's front Cross-Patee, a large spinel ruby can be seen, which was originally part of the jewels of the Black Prince. The ruby, known as the Black Prince's Ruby, is surrounded by pearls and aquamarines, adding to the crown's grandeur and beauty. The Cross-Patee is adorned with fleur-de-lis, a symbol of the monarchy, adding to the crown's intricate and ornate design. King George I, a German-born monarch, ascended to the throne following the death of Queen Anne. His coronation marked the beginning of the Hanoverian dynasty, which ruled until 1901. The Imperial State Crown, with its rich history and stunning design, continues to be a symbol of the monarchy's enduring legacy and tradition.
