This stunning watercolor illustration, created by the renowned botanical artist Franz Bauer in 1818, depicts Maxillaria subulata, a beautiful orchid species native to Central and South America. The intricate internal structure and anatomy of this epiphytic orchid are brought to life through Bauer's skilled hand, with exquisite detail given to the various parts of the flower.
