This evocative photograph captures the raw tension and violence that gripped the streets of Belfast during the turbulent year of 1920. The image portrays an encounter between two opposing groups, Sinn Feiners in Glenpark Street and loyalist Orangemen in Louisa Street, in what was known as the Marrowbone district. The area, located in the heart of the city, became a focal point for sectarian clashes during the Irish War of Independence.
