The iguana is affectionately referred to as "Le Grand Lezard à Peigne," or "The Grand combed Lizard," due to the distinctive crest of spines running down its back, which resembles a comb. This intricate illustration is an engraving after an original drawing by Johann Christoph Keller, as featured in Georg Wolfgang Knorr's Deliciae Naturae Selectae, published in Nuremberg in 1771. The work was part of a series of rare and exotic natural specimens, showcased in the Kabinet van Zeldzaamheden der Natuur, or Cabinet of Curiosities, of P.L. Muller.
