The image is taken from Sir William Jardine's Naturalist's Library: Monkeys, published in Edinburgh in 1844. The illustration was created by James Stewart and engraved by W.H. Lizars. The Pygmy Marmoset is a small primate native to South America, specifically in the Amazon Basin. They are the smallest monkey species in the world, with an average length of only 12 cm (4.7 inches) and weighing around 100 grams (3.5 ounces).
