Campbell Driver Drivers Flat Goggles Holder Howe Malcolm Mays Raymond Record Speed Walsh

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this evocative photograph from the 1930s, three of the most famous motor racing drivers of the 20th century are seen together at the Shelsley Walsh hill climb course in the English countryside. From left to right, we have Sir Malcolm Campbell, Raymond Mays, and Earl Howe, each an icon in their own right in the world of motor sports. Sir Malcolm Campbell, the man in the middle, holds the distinction of being the first person to break the 300 mph barrier on land, achieving the record-breaking speed of 301.337 mph in the Bluebird K3 streamliner in 1935. His dashing good looks and charisma made him a favorite among fans, and his feats of speed continue to inspire awe to this day. To his left is Raymond Mays, a successful businessman and racing driver who was instrumental in the development of the ERA (English Racing Automobiles) team. Mays was known for his meticulous attention to detail and his innovative engineering solutions, which helped his team achieve numerous victories in the 1930s and 1940s. On the right is Earl Howe, a member of the British nobility and a talented racing driver in his own right. Howe was a regular competitor at Shelsley Walsh and other hill climbs, and his flat cap and goggles are a testament to the daring and adventurous spirit of motor racing in the era. Together, these three men represent the golden age of motor racing, an era of speed, innovation, and daring that continues to captivate audiences today. The photograph captures their passion for the sport and their determination to push the limits of what was possible on four wheels.
