The bride, dressed in a elegant, flowing white gown and veil, gazes lovingly at her groom, who wears the traditional robes of a curate. The Reverend Fry is the eldest son of Sir John and Lady Fray. Sheila Kaye-Smith, a renowned English novelist, was born in St. Leonards and spent most of her life in the county of Sussex. Her novels, which dealt with rural subjects and the human condition, gained her a large following and critical acclaim. The writer, who was deeply religious, later converted to Catholicism with her husband.
