EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph print depicts the legendary Egyptian Queen Cleopatra VII Philopator, believed to have ruled from 51-30 BC. Known for her striking beauty and political acumen, Cleopatra was the last active ruler of the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt. She was also a devout believer in the Egyptian gods and represented herself as the reincarnation of the goddess Isis, symbolized by the triangular headdress adorning her head. Cleopatra's dark, curly hair cascades down her shoulders, framing her chiseled features and piercing gaze. Her regal attire includes a diadem and tiara, adorned with intricate jewels and mythical symbols, including the phoenix, a bird associated with rebirth and renewal. Her earrings, in the shape of triangles, mirror the shape of her headdress and further emphasize her divine connection. As a powerful leader, Cleopatra was known to have ruled from the north of Africa, expanding her kingdom's influence and maintaining alliances with Rome. Her ability to speak multiple languages, including Greek and Latin, allowed her to effectively communicate with the Roman elite, ultimately leading to several high-profile romantic liaisons with Roman rulers, most notably Julius Caesar and Mark Antony. Despite her many accomplishments, Cleopatra's reign ultimately ended in tragedy. She is said to have committed suicide by allowing an asp to bite her during the final days of the Battle of Actium in 30 BC. Her legacy, however, continues to captivate the world, making her one of the most famous and intriguing figures in ancient history.
