Painted by the renowned Dutch naturalist artist JG Keulemans for Sir Walter Lawry Buller's "A History of the Birds of New Zealand," this exquisite illustration was created in 1888. The New Zealand Quail is a native bird of New Zealand and is a member of the Phasianidae family, which includes pheasants, quails, and grouses.
