EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph showcases the BAC One-Eleven-215-AU N11183 (msn 105), also known as Queen Kaahumanu, at the 1967 Paris Airshow with its show number 284. The image captures the moment of the One-Eleven's first flight on May 26, 1967. Just a few days later, on May 31, this historic aircraft was delivered to Aloha Airlines, marking the beginning of its commercial aviation journey. The BAC One-Eleven, a British-designed jet airliner, made its debut in the late 1960s and quickly gained popularity for its advanced features and efficiency. N11183, specifically, was the second production model of the One-Eleven series and was the first to be delivered to an American airline. In April 1969, N11183 was sold to Mohawk Airlines and was given the registration number N1132J. The aircraft's history continued to evolve when it was merged with Allegheny Airlines in 1972. Later, in September 1989, the aircraft was transferred to Alg Inc. in Kansas City, Missouri. The final chapter of N11183's story took place in October 1991 when it was sold to Kabo Air and was given the registration number 5N-KBM. This photograph is a testament to the rich history of the BAC One-Eleven-215-AU N11183 and the significant role it played in the aviation industry during the 1960s and beyond.
