EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph showcases Douglas A-26C Invader N9403Z, also known as High and Mighty (msn 29089), which was built as A-26C 44-35810 for the United States Army Air Force (USAF) in 1945. After being disposed of to the civil registry, this historic aircraft was exported to Canada in 1981, where it became part of AirSpray 1967 Ltd. of Edmonton, Alberta's fleet. The image, believed to have been taken around 1965, captures the Invader's sleek design and powerful presence. Unfortunately, on 16 October 2000, this aircraft met a tragic end when it was lost in a hangar fire at Red Deer. The registration was cancelled on 7 November 2000. The Douglas A-26 Invader, a versatile twin-engine attack bomber and reconnaissance aircraft, served both the US military and various international air forces with distinction. This photograph is a testament to the rich history of military aviation and the enduring allure of the Douglas A-26 Invader.
